Serendipitous Sunday-Festival

Picture From Amazon

As a little child I had my first experience of the wonder that awaits when the festivals and fairs came to town and I have been hooked ever since.  There is just something about the music, treats, and acts that amazed my little soul and that still does today.  God made a glorious world with all types of people in it and you will never find a more eclectic group of people than at a renaissance festival. Last Sunday we went in search of merriment and found it at the Maryland Renaissance Festival.

The festival was just as grand as I remembered and I truly felt like I had stepped back in time.  One of my favorite things at the festival was an old fashioned glass blowing demonstration.  I was amazed at the beautiful creations that were made by the artisans by hand.

I took home a lovely little pink ornament that is in the picture below.

I met a butterfly at the festival and he was just as I imagined a proper butterfly would be.  He had a wonderful sense of humor and allowed me to shake one of his many hands.

The festival was filled with delicious food and I believed that we sampled just about everything!  My favorite treat was the Crab Pretzel which was a soft buttery pretzel with crab, melted cheese and Old Bay on top...yum!!
Taking time to relax and do fun things is inherently important to leading a well balanced life. Proverbs 17:22 tells us that "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones." So make sure that you do happy things that bring you joy!

Serendipitous Sunday

The Prayer
by Chloe Agnew

I pray you'll be our eyes
And watch us where we go
And help us to be wise
In times when we don't know

Let this be our prayer
As we go our way
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
To a place where we'll be safe

I pray we'll find your light
And hold it in our hearts
When stars go out each night
Remind us where you are

Let this be our prayer
When shadows fill our day
Lead us to a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

We ask that life be kind
And watch us from above
We hope each soul will find
Another soul to love

Let this be our prayer
Just like every child
Needs to find a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

Need to find a place
Guide us with your grace
Give us faith so we'll be safe

The Dolls Wash

"Sally's very kind, for she praised our wash, and she has taken away
Victoria's dress to do it again; and I really must say
She was right when she said, "You see, young ladies, a week's wash isn't all play."
Our backs ache, our faces are red, our hands are all wrinkled, and we've rubbed our fingers quite sore;
We feel very sorry for Sally every week, and we don't mean to dirty our dresses so much any more."

Serendipitous Sunday-Weathering the Storm

This is the thing....Heaven is a beautiful place...one day you will come in to contact with the embodiment of love.....and every knee shall bow...every tongue confess...MAN I get excited thinking about that. But........now...you are on earth...we are put here for a reason, we all have a purpose.  If you are honoring the Lord with your life then really, you should not worry....Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? Now, do I sometimes worry?...ehhh...I get scared.  When I am scared I call on Jesus...I call on Jesus...and I keep calling on Jesus. This is because I am human, I am mortal, and......well...maybe I watch too many horror/end of the world movies...but that's another story on being careful what you fill your mind with. But who can resist Giantsaur Against Megacroc on SYFY.  You? No? Ok...I guess I am just a dweeb:)  I digress. God loves you, always remember that when you are scared.  Just keep repeating that to yourself.  Ask him to protect your family...prayer works.

Now here are my recommendations for Storms:
Always, always, always keep:
Extra water
Food
A little grill (You can boil hot water on it if you lose electricity and such)
Wood or charcoal
Candles
Radio
Batteries
Chocolate..wait, that is not necessary but do you want to be stuck without it?  Just Saying..

About those Bible verses I quoted:

Matthew 6:27
Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?

Philippians 2:8-11

Therefore, God elevated him to the place of highest honor and gave him the name above all other names, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
