Real Beauty Secrets Part 2. Make-up

I wanted to do a separate post on make-up because of the relationship that so many of us have with our faces.  Beauty is a touchy subject that is often hard to speak candidly about.  Every woman wants to look her best although some of us obsess a little more about being pretty than others.  Even more, how does a Christian woman reconcile her desire to be lovely with her fear of being vain? So my very first beauty secret for make-up is to be....

Content with your own facial make up and bone structure.

1. Each and every one of us is beautifully made!  When I look around at all of the different types of facial structures, I marvel at the Lord and his creations. It is only once your are content with your lovely facial features that you can truly explore the cosmetics to enhance them:)

2. Find someone with a similar face shape whose make-up you admire.  For me it is Gene Tierney!  I think that she was lovely and I like the way she did her make-up.

3. Pick the feature that you want to highlight (stick with one)....I chose my eyes because I feel like they are the best feature on my face.

4.  So I first define my eyebrows with a nice clean arch this can be achieved with tweezers, wax or Nair, which is what I use.... and about eyebrows.

a. My eyebrows are thin and I use eyeliner to darken them (you girls with nice thick eyebrows are so lucky:)....I use dark brown which a shade lighter than my hair which is black to match my hair. I use Lancome's Le Stylo Waterproof

b.Your eyebrows should stop at the corner of your eyes.

c. Ideally your eyebrow should look similar to the shape below:

d. The arch should always be above the iris as shown in B remember that beauty is all about symmetry:)

5. Pick a eyeshadow that makes your eyes pop but that is neutral. I use Lancome's Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow Liner Palette in Sienna Sultry
6. I use the same eyeliner that I use to darken my brows to line the top of my eyelid and then I apply 3 coats of mascara which is Hypnose again by Lancome.

8. I use a concealer under my eye and then I use my compact to lightly dust powder over my face.
9. Then I take Benefits Posietint and use it on my cheeks and lips.  It is very subtle and adds just a little color.

10. Lastly I put on Victoria Secret's Minty Lip Shine which is one of the best Lip glosses I have ever used!  It is not sticky or tacky and it has just a hint of sweetness while freshening your breath.

11. For special occasions I use Bathina Body So Fine

It smells sweet and gives your skin a nice glow...

Sadly, Benefit stopped making this version and now sells a different one that can be found here

12. DONE:)

P.S.

* Always put a little powder or base on your eyelids before applying eyeshadow...it makes it last much longer!
*Get 8 hours of sleep if you can so your eyes are bright
*Get an eye lash comb to make sure that you don't have clumps
*Exfoliate your face!
* If you have a mustache.....get rid of it:)
*Use colors that go with your eye color.. if you have green or hazel eyes try a dark green eyeliner.
* Don't be afraid to experiment...you will never find out what looks good until you try new things.
*If in doubt of whether you look ok...take a picture with you phone...pictures normally don't lie;)
*Carry blotting papers if you have oily skin to touch up mid-day
Last but certainly not Least......................Smile......smile....smile sweet beautiful girl!  Jesus loves you and so do I:)
